Dear PIERS2025 Delegates,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to welcome you to the 46th Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS 2025 Abu Dhabi), May 4 – 8, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, the cosmopolitan capital city of the United Arab Emirates. We are proud and delighted to host the 46th edition of this prestigious conference, under the sponsorship of the Electromagnetic Academy and IEEE at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, one of the largest conference centers in the Middle East. This is the first time ever that this top tier conference is held in the Middle East region, and we are grateful to our professional sponsors for the honor they have bestowed on us to host PIERS in the city of Abu Dhabi.

The Technical Program Committee (TPC) of PIERS2025 Abu Dhabi has spent considerable time and efforts in putting together an outstanding technical program of keynotes, focus sessions, invited speakers, lecture and poster sessions, that constitute together an up-to-date cross section of the best worldwide research in Electromagnetics and Photonics. The TPC has also selected the top papers accepted at the symposium for awards to recognize young scientists and promising PhD students.

An important aspect of the success of PIERS is the grassroots volunteer efforts from the members of the PIERS community who take initiatives to propose, organize, and chair sessions at the symposium. In line with the PIERS tradition, the TPC has also acknowledged the top session organizers with PIERS session organizer awards. We kindly invite all our delegates to the PIERS banquet on Wednesday, May 5, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, when the PIERS awards will be handed out to our accomplished colleagues.

As General Co-chairs, we are delighted that this edition of PIERS has maintained the truly international character of the symposium with so many participants overcoming geographic barriers and attending from all over the world. We thank them all for their dedication and commitment to our community and our symposium.

A symposium of this breadth and magnitude could not have happened without the strong, local support of our Culture and Destination Partner, the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism. We are grateful to their partnership and their tremendous contribution to making Abu Dhabi a city of choice for top tier meetings and conferences like PIERS.

We also thank our exhibitors for selecting PIERS 2025 Abu Dhabi to share their technologies and products with our delegates. We cherish their presence as industry liaisons and representatives.

There are two local partners without whom even the mere idea of hosting PIERS in Abu Dhabi would not have occurred. They are Khalifa University and the Technology Innovation Institute who championed the hosting of PIERS2025 in Abu Dhabi from the very beginning and contributed to its success not only in terms of local organization but also in terms of technical participation through paper submissions and session proposals. To them, we offer our warmest thanks.

Our thanks also go to our conference manager, MCI, and our venue organization, ADNEC, for their great logistical work on behalf of PIERS. And to the many onsite student volunteers for taking care of so many tasks from orienting our delegates to assisting speakers during our sessions.

But above all, we’d like to thank you, PIERS delegates, for your dedication and contributions. This symposium is from you, by you, and for you. We are certain that you will enjoy both the technical and social programs of this unique edition.
