Session Infomation

There is a recent surge in the study of complex optical fields with tailored space-time characteristics. These sculptured spatiotemporal optical fields bring additional dimensions for fundamental studies and opens opportunities for applications. This session aims to bring together researchers from diverse backgrounds to create synergy in this emerging research area. Topics to be covered includes but not limited to:

  • Description and representation of spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Spatial and temporal separable complex optical fields
  • Spatial and temporal non-separable optical fields and spatiotemporal coupling
  • Novel types of spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Generation of spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Active means of generating and controlling spatiotemporal optical fields with dynamic properties
  • Generation and manipulation of spatiotemporal optical fields with metasurfaces
  • Characterization and detection of complex optical fields
  • Propagation of spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Focusing of spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Coherence properties of spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Linear/nonlinear light-matter interactions using with spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Synergy of complex spatiotemporal optical fields with artificial intelligence
  • Super-intense ultrafast spatiotemporal optical fields
  • Interactions of super-intense ultrafast spatiotemporal optical fields with complex medium
  • Applications in quantum information, high-dimensional communication, high-dimensional data storage, super-resolution imaging, sensing, optical confinement/manipulation, etc.
  • Industrial applications in micro-/nano-fabrication, additive manufacturing, material processing, metrology, instrumentation, etc.
